The NY Times is reporting that Senate Democrats are poised to return to their home state. It also says that “Senator Fred Risser . . . said it now seemed conceivable that he and his fellow Democrats would return to Wisconsin . . . without a negotiated compromise.”
And this is the problem with Democrats – they have little backbone. In that same article, it stated that Democrats feel that recalls in a year are a sufficient outcome in this political battle.
“The Democrats say that while they cannot permanently block that outcome, they believe public opinion has turned against the measure and that the Republicans may lose their majority in a recall effort that is now underway against senators over this issue.”
I don’t believe that turning public opinion is enough. In a year, people’s outrage at this insidious piece of legislation will have waned, and the protesters will have been deemed impotent, all because a few Democrats aren’t willing to tough it out.
Voter outrage is not the resolution, it is simply the means to an end, and for these Senate Democrats to suggest that protests were the solution, have proved this to be false. The people want you to stay gone so that Scott Walker isn’t allowed to get everything he wants without any negotiations.
I will say that it is the voters’ fault, because they elected Scott and his Republican cohorts. I guess they have forgotten about the destruction this country faced under Little Bush.
I would ask that the Democrats just stay gone; the Democrats will be impotent in Wisconsin anyhow, so why not stand up for this bill and say ‘hell no, we are not going to be railroaded’? I can tell you why – because Democrats are virtually spineless.
